Yes we can KDE: “Aero” snap… like.

Yes, KDE4 brings more features to Kwin. Well, it can borrow as well.

Oh well, I mean it. KDE brought new technologies onto the desktop. For many years, we had been using the same old desktop seen on Windows 3.1 or other OSes like MacOS.

Windows 7, on the other hand, along with its other features, has new Aero effects. One of them is Aero Snap, and now, Kwin, can do it as well.

Aero snap is activated when we move the window like we want to “hit” the screen borders with it. After we “hit” them, the window is automaximized. If we hit the top one, the window is maximized to fill the screen. If we hit the right or left, it is semi-maximized; the window length fills the half of the screen. So we can have two “tiled” windows next to the other.

Kwin can do this as well, on KDE 4.4. Just hit the borders with the window. And bam! here it is. Kwin snap :p

It’s been a long time (by the add of Air plasma theme, as I remember), that KWin have included some special 3D effects.

It’s something special, all KDE users have been waiting for. KDE developers, have just done their work, absolutely well.

    Thanks KDE.

  1. Is it possible to configure Kde 4 to resize windows to half desktop size when moved to the side of the screen?
